Principal’s Report

A highlight of the past week has been the tremendous success of our Year 5 Market Day. Our students worked incredibly hard to plan, create and run their stalls, demonstrating creativity, teamwork and entrepreneurial skills throughout the process. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and engagement from students, staff and families on the day. We are very grateful to our families for their generous support in helping students prepare for the event and for contributing to making it such a thriving and successful occasion.

We are also looking forward to the rescheduled Junior School Cross Country (Prep – 2) taking place tomorrow afternoon on the school oval. Events such as these provide students with a wonderful opportunity to challenge themselves, demonstrate perseverance and enjoy participating alongside their peers. We hope all students have a fantastic time and enjoy the experience representing their House (don’t forget to dress in your House colours – A’Vard (Yellow), Ryberg (Blue), Worrell (Red) & Nobelius (Green).

We would also like to wish the very best of luck to some of our senior students who will be representing our school at the Regional Cross Country this week. Reaching this level of competition is a fantastic achievement and reflects the dedication, determination and effort these students have shown. We are incredibly proud of them all.

Next week, many of our Prep to Year 2 students will be participating in the swimming program at Splashes in Berwick. This program provides valuable opportunities for students to develop their water safety knowledge and swimming skills in a supportive and engaging environment. We know they will enjoy the experience and make the most of this important learning opportunity.

As we move into the cooler months, we often see an increase in seasonal illnesses such as colds and other infections. Some students may be prescribed medications, including antibiotics, during this time.

We would like to remind families that any medication required to be administered during the school day need to be brought to the school office by a parent or carer. Medications should not be carried by students.

A Medical Authority Form must also be completed and submitted to the office before any medication can be administered at school. This helps us ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students and allows staff to follow the correct dosage and administration instructions.

If your child requires medication at school, please contact the office if you have any questions regarding the process or a require a copy of the Medical Authority Form or download it here.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

A reminder that when fidget items are required to support a student’s concentration, self-regulation, or learning, families should liaise with the classroom teacher to discuss appropriate use and establish clear expectations.

Fidget items are intended as learning supports rather than toys. If an item becomes distracting to the student or others, its use during learning time may need to be reviewed and an alternative support strategy considered in consultation with the teacher.

With the wetter weather and our students’ enthusiasm for outdoor play, we ask families to please send a spare change of clothes (particularly pants) if your child enjoys playing in muddy areas. Having spare clothing available helps students stay comfortable and ready to learn if they get wet or muddy during the day.

We are also seeking donations of second-hand black pants that children have outgrown. If you have any suitable items at home, we would greatly appreciate them being dropped off at the office to help replenish our supply of spare clothing for students who may need a change during the school day.
