Before and After School Care:

TheirCare operate our before and after care program onsite at Emerald Primary School.

Hours of operation are:

Before school care from 6.30am until 8.45am. Breakfast is provided.

After school care is from 3.30pm until 6.30pm. Afternoon tea is provided.

Curriculum day care and school holiday care also available.

We encourage all families to register with TheirCare just in case you need to use the facility on a casual basis.

  • A limited public bus service is available. Bus times and routes are available from US/Ventura Bus Lines Ph: 9771 4300.
  • Children who travel on the bus are expected to maintain a high standard of behaviour and must accept the authority of the bus driver. Failure to do this will result in their being asked to find alternative forms of transport to school.
  • Bus travellers are supervised by a teacher while waiting for the bus outside the school each afternoon.

Our Compass Parent Portal is accessible via the school website. In addition individual class, student, and year level communication is via the ClassDojo app. Families receive individual logins upon commencement at the school.

Class Dojo:

Class Dojo is a communication app used at school to share classroom updates, celebrate student achievements, and keep families informed. Teachers may use it to post photos, reminders, and learning highlights from the week. It’s a great way for parents to stay connected with what’s happening in the classroom.

Weekly Newsletter:

Our school newsletter is published every Wednesday and includes important updates, events, and news from around the school.

You can find it each week on Compass and the school website.

We encourage all families to check in regularly to stay informed and connected.

School Assembly:

Our school assembly is held every second Friday at 9:15am. Parents and carers are always welcome to attend. Please check the website calendar for the date of the next assembly.

  • Mid-February: Info sharing sessions
  • End of Term 2: Parent-teacher interviews after semester 1 reports
  • Parent-teacher interview bookings are made via Compass
  • Meetings with teachers or leadership can be arranged at a mutually convenient time

Uniform Shop:

  • Onsite near the office, run by parent volunteers
  • Open Tuesdays 8.30–9.00am & Fridays 3.15–3.45pm

Hats:

  • Students and staff are required to wear hats in Term 1 (until end of April) and Term 4 (from September), in line with our SunSmart Policy

Keep children home if sick.

We kindly ask that all absences be logged on Compass. If you are planning a holiday or know your child will be absent for any reason, you can submit the absence on Compass at any time. You’ll receive a text if the school has not been informed of an absence.

Medication at School:

If medication is sent to school, a form must be filled in at the office providing clear instructions for its use.

Asthma puffers:

  • Prep–Grade 3: stored in sick bay
  • Grade 4–6: may be kept with student
  • Asthma Plans must be updated yearly
  • Serious medical conditions require a health form from the Office

Head Lice:
Children must be treated before returning. Check hairlines daily and tie back long hair.

Infectious Diseases:

Snack and Lunch:

  • We encourage Nude Food—that means lunches and snacks without any disposable packaging. Please avoid plastic wrap, foil, or single-use bags. Instead, pack your child’s food in reusable containers such as lunchboxes, tubs, or beeswax wraps.
  • Please ensure your child’s lunchbox is clearly labelled to help keep things organized. This simple step helps reduce waste and supports a healthier environment!

Canteen:

The Canteen is open for over-the-counter sales at both recess and lunch.

Lunch orders can be placed:

  • Online at www.school24.net.au (School ID: 25288963), or

  • Paper orders: Please write your child’s name, grade, and order clearly on a suitable paper bag, and include the correct money inside (if possible). A seperate paper bag is required for each child.

Please check the lost property box located in the courtyard near the office for any missing items.
