Principal’s Report

We are looking forward to the Grade 5 Market Day tomorrow, where students will showcase their creativity, enterprise skills and teamwork through a range of stalls and activities. Students are welcome to bring along some spending money (up to $10) and support the hard work of our Grade 5 students.

A reminder that Friday is Pyjama Day, and we look forward to seeing students dressed in their favourite pyjamas while enjoying a fun day of learning!

We also apologise again for the rescheduling of the Junior School Cross Country event due to the poor predicted weather. The event has been moved from tomorrow to next Thursday 11th June. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility, and we look forward to cheering on our junior runners then.

A reminder that when fidget items are required to support a student’s concentration, self-regulation, or learning, families should liaise with the classroom teacher to discuss appropriate use and establish clear expectations.

Fidget items are intended as learning supports rather than toys. If an item becomes distracting to the student or others, its use during learning time may need to be reviewed and an alternative support strategy considered in consultation with the teacher.

With the wetter weather and our students’ enthusiasm for outdoor play, we ask families to please send a spare change of clothes (particularly pants) if your child enjoys playing in muddy areas. Having spare clothing available helps students stay comfortable and ready to learn if they get wet or muddy during the day.

We are also seeking donations of second-hand black pants that children have outgrown. If you have any suitable items at home, we would greatly appreciate them being dropped off at the office to help replenish our supply of spare clothing for students who may need a change during the school day.

Winter Reminder – Spare Clothes

With the wetter weather and our students’ enthusiasm for outdoor play, we ask families to please send a spare change of clothes (particularly pants) if your child enjoys playing in muddy areas. Thank you for helping us keep all students warm, dry and comfortable this winter.

Divisional Cross Country

On Tuesday the 2nd of June Emerald primary schools 36 students set off on an adventure to Yarra Glen Racecourse to run Divisional Cross Country. The excitement and nervousness was contagious and got more intense the closer the bus drove to the race track. We arrived in the stands and instantly half of the group had run off to find family and friends amongst the bustling crowds, while the other Division’s races ran.

The first group headed to the marshals and started their race at 11:00am, with each other age-group starting afterwards in 15 minute intervals. As we headed on to the racetrack the nervousness was overwhelming but we pushed through and the race began. The icy wind blew strong but we kept a good pace ignoring how cold we were.

Despite the unexpected track change, everyone ran well and the pride from all of the students after the race was absolutely overwhelming.

Thank you to Mr Appleby, Mrs Boocock, Sarah and Mr Stella for supporting our team on the day.

Congratulations to the students that gave it a go and an extra congrats to the few that are through to Regionals, we look forward to finding out your results.

EPS athletes competing at Regionals are:

12/13G – Estella

12/13B – Redmond

11G – Maya and Hazel

11B – Liam, Parker and Griff

10G – Winter

10B – Ace and Arlo
