Principal’s Report
It has been wonderful to welcome our students, staff and families back for Term 2. We are looking forward to another term filled with rich learning experiences, strong community connections and continued growth for all of our students.
We ended Term 1 on a particularly positive note with our EPS Values Launch, where we proudly introduced and celebrated our school values of Kindness, Respect and Resilience. The new values were developed with input from the whole EPS community. This was a significant milestone for our school as we continue to implement our School-Wide Positive Behaviour approach, and it was inspiring to see the way students embraced these values so enthusiastically. As part of this launch, we also presented our EPS Values Awards based on these new values, recognising students who consistently demonstrate these qualities in their learning and interactions. We look forward to continuing to celebrate our students as they live out these values each day.
Our final assembly of Term 1 also featured a very special moment, with Mitchell participating in the World’s Greatest Shave (Leukaemia Foundation) to support a wonderful EPS student, who is his close friend. Our whole school community rallied behind him, showing wonderful support and generosity for this important cause, for which Mitchell has raised over $3000.
This week, we look ahead to a number of important community events. On Friday, we will welcome students from Emerald Secondary College to join us for a special ANZAC Ceremony Assembly. This will be attended by our Grade 5 and 6 students only, along with the ESC students, and families are warmly invited to join us as we come together to reflect, remember and honour those who have served.
Our School Captains will also play an important role in the wider community commemorations. They will be speaking at both the Dawn Service at 5:30am and the Morning Service at 10:30am on Saturday 25th April. We are incredibly proud of their leadership and the respect they show in representing our school. We invite our school community to join us at 10:00am at the Cenotaph in the centre of town, where we will gather before marching together with the local community. Our fabulous EPS Ukulele Orchestra will also be playing at the Morning Service, with Dan MacEoin conducting.
Earlier this week, on our Curriculum Day, Emerald Primary School was proud to host colleagues from across the Dandenong Ranges Network. We welcomed 50 teachers and 70 Education Support staff for a day of professional learning focused on Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. It was a valuable opportunity to learn together, share best practice and strengthen our collective commitment to supporting every student to succeed. The day was filled with meaningful collaboration and connection, and we thank all who contributed to its success.
As we begin Term 2, we are excited about the learning ahead and the many opportunities for students to continue to grow academically, socially and emotionally. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and partnership.
We look forward to a fantastic term together.
