Principal’s Report

Thank you to Kate Watson, Kate Spencer and Danni Gottschalk for all of their help and support with students this term in our classrooms.

We are also thanking and farewelling Kath Barrot, who has been a part of the EPS Team for a long time and will be sorely missed. She has been an Education Support Staff member at EPS for 14 years and has had a big impact on many students at our school over the years, with her caring and supportive approach to helping all students achieve their best. We congratulate Kath as, with her excellent knowledge of learning and being in classrooms for so long, she has now studied hard over the last few years to become a fully-qualified teacher and has been successful in gaining her first teaching job at a school in our local network. Good luck Kath and we hope to see you around to hear all about your successes in teaching.

All families will note on Compass that the Voluntary Curriculum Contribution amounts are accessible there for payment. We understand that 2024 has been a challenging year for families economically, and so encourage you to make a payment plan, or pay outright when you can. For this past year, we were grateful to have had 50% of families pay these contribution amounts, but would really appreciate it if more families could put some money toward these in the new year, so that we can continue to conduct a full, rich program of learning at EPS. To facilitate families to make some contributions, we will be opening the school on Wednesday 21st January for families to drop in to pay. At this time also, the Study Starter Pack for your students will be available for collection – which is a pack of items for individual student use at EPS to get started for the year. The Uniform Shop, run by our amazing volunteers, Kristie Holden and Jo Shore, will be open on Tuesday 28th January (from 9am to 12pm) for purchasing. I want to thank Kristie, Jo and Samantha Hardiman for all of their fantastic efforts in running the shop this year.

We will see everyone at our Final Assembly this Friday 20th December at 9.15am. This will also be the “Leaps & Bounds Award” ceremony and special farewell to our departing Grade 6 students from their Prep Buddies. Teachers will return to school on Tuesday 28th January, then Grades 1 to 6 students will return on Wednesday 29th January, followed by our new Prep students will joining us on Thursday 30th January for their first day of school!

I want to wish all of our students, families and EPS staff a wonderful festive season and hope that all students and staff have a restful and safe break, ready for a dynamic year of learning and fun in 2025!
