Principal’s Report
We are once again excited to be holding our Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day on Thursday 28th November.
Everyone is welcome to arrive any time from 11.30am, which is a little while after Recess finishes.
The meeting point for your children and their guests to find each other will be outside their classrooms. Guests can go straight there, or if not sure where to go, attend the Main Office and student helpers will be there to guide them.
From there, everyone is welcome to pop-in to classrooms, complete the EPS Treasure Trail and visit the Book Fair.
Sausages in bread and drinks will be available for purchase at the Sausage Sizzle.
The event will finish at 1.00pm, the start of our school Lunch break.
Friday 29th November will be a gold coin donation free dress day, with the proceeds going to The EB Foundation. Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is the name for a group of rare inherited skin disorders that cause the skin to become very fragile. Please come to school in free dress on this day with a touch of blue and/or wings to show your support. One of our students experiences this condition and her family supports us to conduct this fundraising for this day, which goes to the wider cause to find treatments and cures. The Walk for Wings event was held back at the end of October for this cause, and our funds raised will go towards it also.
I just wanted to remind parents and carers that the school hours of supervision are from 8.45am to 3.45pm each school day. With the recent excitement of having a before and after school care program onsite, a number of children are presenting at the program without bookings and trying to engage with the children who are inside the Senior Learning Centre under the care of the TheirCare staff. Students should not be dropped to school before 8.30am please. Also, if your child/children are going to be picked up late on occasion, please let the office know and we will ensure that they are supervised. Please reach out to me at school if there is anything about this that I can help you with.
To register or find out more about TheirCare, please follow this link: https://theircare.com.au/
We are coming into an important time of year regarding planning for 2025. If you are aware of any families who are looking at enquiring to enrol at EPS and have not submitted enrolment forms for next year, please encourage them to contact the school ASAP. Also, if you are exiting the school at the end of this year, please let us know as soon as possible so we can include this in our planning.
Pertussis Exclusion Guidelines (legislated for primary schools, recommended for secondary schools but not legislated):
Cases: Exclude the child for 21 days after the onset of cough or until they have completed 5 days of a course of antibiotic treatment (return on day 6). Exclusion can only be enacted for ‘Confirmed’ cases of pertussis.
Contacts: Contacts aged less than 7 years in the same room as the case who have not received three effective doses of pertussis vaccine should be excluded for 14 days after the last exposure to the infectious case, or until they have taken 5 days of a course of effective antibiotic treatment. This also applies to a case’s siblings (if in the same household) if under 7.
From healthdirect.gov.au
Symptoms: Cold-like symptoms including runny nose, sneezing, mild dry cough, fever. The cough may also worsen as time goes on.
It is a contagious illness.
Can cause serious health problems in babies.

This week …
National Recycling Week 11th – 17th November
The following is taken from: National Recycling Week
What is National Recycling Week?
Back since recycling bins were just a small black tub, Planet Ark has been helping Australians recycle right. National Recycling Week (NRW) is one of Planet Ark’s flagship campaigns and every year aims to educate and empower people to do the right thing when they’re at the bin.
Since the campaign was established in 1996, we have held it every year during the second week of November. This year, NRW will be from 11 – 17 November, 2024.
Our education also focuses on the waste hierarchy – reduce, reuse, recycle – to minimise strain on finite resources.
Please see the National Recycling Week Presentation by Struan and Jamie where they explain in their words, the importance of this week to them for our school.
If you are missing an order from book club, we have an un named order at the office.
