Principal’s Report
We are looking forward to a special celebration this Friday 5th September as we welcome our dads, grandads and special friends to our Father’s Day event. The afternoon will begin with a BBQ at 2.15pm, followed by a whole-school assembly at 3.00pm. We encourage families to come along and enjoy this special occasion together. Please RSVP via this link by end of tomorrow (Thursday 4th September): https://forms.gle/wudKWjmmnaCHLCsx5
Next week, our talented Grade 6 students will be taking to the stage for their much-anticipated production of “The X Factory.” The excitement is building, and we know the performances will showcase the creativity, teamwork and dedication of our senior students. We can’t wait to see them shine!
Looking ahead, we have some fun student-led dress-up days on the calendar. These events not only bring joy and colour to our school, but also reflect the wonderful initiative of our student leaders who are actively making a difference:
- Friday 19th September (last day of Term 3): Sports Theme Dress-Up Day, coordinated by the Student Action Team and Michelle Hayward.
- Friday 17th October (Term 4): PJ Day, run by the Early Act Club with Jacquie Forsythe and Hollie Boniface, raising funds for an international project.
- Friday 31st October (Term 4): Crazy Hair Day, led again by the Student Action Team, raising money to purchase new classroom sports equipment for the whole school.
It is wonderful to see so many of our students stepping up to lead these initiatives, showing responsibility, creativity and a strong sense of community spirit. These opportunities not only support worthy causes but also give our students the chance to develop important leadership skills and make a positive contribution to our school and beyond.
Eight students from Grade 3-6 challenged themselves to take part in the annual Japanese Language Teachers’ Association of Victoria (JLTAV) annual speech contest. Grade 3-4 students presented an entertaining version of the story of the Giant Turnip. Grade 6 students worked in pairs to memorise a set conversation and wrote their own original conversation to present to the audience of approximately 100 people.
All students represented our school proudly and did a wonderful job with their speeches.
Congratulations to Finley (Gr3), Hana (Gr 4), Albie (Gr4), Isla (Gr 4), Phaedra (Gr6), Lachie (Gr 6), Eleanor (Gr6), Grace (Gr6).
Keep on taking challenges with your learning!
A BIG thank you to Sonia Sensai for her dedicated support in preparing these students to participate in this exciting event.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting the anual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
The link to this survey was sent via Compass last week and will be sent out again this week.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025.
All families are invited to participate in the survey.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.
The survey results will be communicated to parents / caregivers / guardians via the Annual Report and will be available on the school website.
Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.

This Week…
Out and About with the Kindness Squad
Every Tuesday at lunch time, the Senior Kindness Squad meets to discuss and practice ways of spreading kindness around our school.
This week we ventured out to the local community with daffodils and reminders that everyone is special. As the students handed out daffodils to our local shop keepers and community members, it was hard to tell who was more touched by the acts of kindness; the recipients or the givers!
A beautiful reminder to us all that there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness.

A friendly note from the office
If you have any old black school pants/trackies that you no longer need the office would appreciate any donations.
