This week …
Year 6 Sporting Successes
Term 2 has provided many sporting and extra-curricular opportunities for Grade 6 students.
Our HPV teams competed strongly at the Sandown HPV event at the end of July, unveiling their newly painted and sponsored carts. A huge thank you to all of our sponsors and families for making it happen. The next two races are in October.
Week 3 of term was full of Divisional sporting trips. On Monday and Tuesday, the Boys Football and Girls Football teams respectively competed at Lewis Park ovals. Both teams embraced the mud, weather and competition! Well done to both teams, and a mention to the boys for taking 3rd place.
Wednesday saw the Girls Netball team head to Ferntree Gully to compete on the newly built courts. They played wonderfully well and were runners up, only losing by 2 goals in the Grand Final! Top job!
Thursday was the final divisional competition for the week, and it was our Boys and Girls Soccer teams competing at Monbulk. Both teams soaked up for the experience, performed admirably and ended up champions and will progress to Regionals! Fantastic result!
Finally, last Thursday was EDEC Basketball at Kilsyth. The day was non-stop basketball with Emerald boasting around nine teams across three divisions! Each team had many wins and it was wonderful to see their individual and team skills improve greatly as the day progressed. Our top Girls and Boys teams were successful in making it through to the Divisional level – well done all!
Lastly, these events do not happen without the energy, time and guidance of EPS staff, parents, and ex-students. On behalf of the EPS students, a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who made these events happen!

Upcoming Events …
Attention students in Year 3-6…We are excited to announce that we have entered our school in the Melbourne Rocks- Times Tables Rock Stars competition. This will take place on August 28th to August 30th 2024. Students will have up to 60minutes per day, for the 3 days, to log on and answer as many times table questions as they can. The competition will be able to be completed on any device connected to the internet at school and home.
Every correct answer that a student gives, in any game type, between the hours of 7:30am AEST to 7:30pm AEST each day will contribute to their class and school score.
Your teachers will be sending more information home over the coming weeks in the lead up to the competition. Also keep your eye on dojo for any announcements from Mrs Porter.

ATTENTION ATTENTION!
Our school’s Parents Band “The Tall Ones” is participating with a number of other local primary schools including Mt Dandenong PS, Kallista PS and Menzies Creek PS in the 2024 Yarra Ranges Parents Battle of the Bands on Thursday, 22nd August at The Sooki Lounge in Belgrave!!
It’s an awesome community event where the funds raised are used to expand the performing arts/music education programs for participating schools.
All proceeds will be redistributed pro-rata of parents’ attendance/number of tickets sold by each school, which means, the more parents of our school show up, the more money we raise.
The real winners are the schools that sell the most tickets! It is a fun night of great music and quality entertainment – legendary if you ask previous crowds!
