Principal’s Report

Congratulations to our Preps who have thrived in their first 100 days of school! Today began with a student and staff parade displaying our ‘older, brighter, smarter’ students in their fabulous costumes. Our school community had the opportunity to cheer our kids on and acknowledge the hard work and resilience this group have already shown. The assembly concluded with a Prep dance with their Grade 6 buddies and teachers. The party continued with a prep disco and a games afternoon. My deepest gratitude to Amy Gazzard, Jen Palacios, Shannyn Gardiner, Louise Boocock, Sam, Georga and Clinton for your continued love of learning that you generously give to our students.

Well done to the select 3 to 6 students for their participation in the Australian Maths competition held on Wednesday morning. They are to be commended on their focus and calm under strict test conditions. Thank you, Tara Porter and Craig Appleby, for constantly creating such exciting opportunities for our students to explore the world of Maths.

Our Year 5’s had a wonderful time today taking part in an exploration day at Emerald Secondary College. It was great for them to get a taste of what a high school will be like.

Last week our Grade 6 students competed in Divisional Football and Soccer. Congratulations to our boys’ footy team for achieving 3rd place and girls’ footy team in 6th place. Thank you, Matt Stella, for your back-to-back event planning. The students are having a ball!

Stay tuned for announcements about our Book Week celebration coming up in Week 5 of the term. Katie Weerasinghe has been a busy bee with her committee organising some thrilling book adventures. There are so many adventures to be had when you dive into a book!

Have a lovely week and keep warm!

🎓 50 EPS Students Shine in Today’s Australian Mathematics Competition!

Today 6th August, fifty enthusiastic students from Years 3 to 6 proudly represented EPS in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC). This primary‑level challenge consists of 30 problems—25 multiple‑choice and 5 integer-answer questions and is designed to increase in difficulty and stretch students’ problem-solving skills within a tight 60‑minute timeframe.

Our EPS participants demonstrated fantastic perseverance and focus, and did a wonderful job tackling tricky problems with determination and style. We’re incredibly proud of every student for taking on the challenge and giving their absolute best.

Well done to all involved—we look forward to sharing the certificate presentations at one of our upcoming assemblies!

Thankyou to Mrs Eva for assisting Mrs Porter in the running of the competition.

If so please bring them to the Emerald SES to be recycled. Emerald Primary School is now a registered donation partner with the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme. So your rubbish can be recycled and each empty container earns 10c. Please donate the money you collect to our school, so we can fundraise for more drink taps on the school oval.
