Principal’s Report

Thank you to Lisa Dangerfield and family (Mia, Noah and Jason) for their support to run the Wear Blue Day today for the Make-A-Wish fundraiser. I am pleased to let everyone know that we raised $507.75 today as a school, through gold coin donations to donate to this charity, which helps to bring wishes to life for critically ill children. Well done EPS!

We are looking forward to meeting some new families to our school next week at our annual Open Day, where School Tours are conducted all day for families new to the area, or looking at enrolling their children into Prep for 2026. Tours to see the “School In Action” are running at:

9.30am, 10.00am, 11.15am, 12.15pm, 2.00pm

Please let any interested families know – they can just pop in for any of the tour time slots!

The EPS Council AGM will be held this Thursday 1st May at Emerald Primary School. The Annual Report for 2024 will be presented at this meeting. It will be held at 7.30pm in the Staff Room. All are welcome to attend – please email myself at emerald.ps@education.vic.gov.au if you would like to come to the meeting.

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to celebrate our Mums and Mother figures next Friday 9th May at 2pm and onwards for a sausage sizzle (sponsored by TheirCare – our out-out-hours care program). Classrooms will be open and we will have an assembly at 3.10pm. Please RSVP by next Wednesday 7th May via this link:

We are also looking for volunteers to cook on the day – please also register via the link above.

All families will note on Compass that the Voluntary Curriculum Contribution amounts are accessible there for payment. We understand that 2025 has started as a challenging year for families economically, and so encourage you to make a payment plan for the year, or pay outright when you can. For last year, we were grateful to have had 50% of families pay these contribution amounts, but would really appreciate it if more families could put some money toward these this year, so that we can continue to conduct a full, rich program of learning at EPS. Please contact myself or Fiona Hogben, our Business Manager, for a chat if you would like to discuss payment options further.

If so please bring them to the Emerald SES to be recycled. Emerald Primary School is now a registered donation partner with the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme. So your rubbish can be recycled and each empty container earns 10c. Please donate the money you collect to our school, so we can fundraise for more drink taps on the school oval.
