Principal's Report It was wonderful to hand out so many leadership badges to our Year 6 students at last week’s assembly. We are very proud of all our student leaders and would like to especially congratulate our new School Captains on the outstanding job they did running their first assembly. They demonstrated confidence, responsibility and teamwork, setting a positive example for our whole school community. Congratulations also to the Year 5 students who were selected to join the Early Act team and will be developing their leadership skills through their work with Mrs Forsythe, Hollie and our Rotary representatives. Principal's Report Our school collects and uses student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ privacy policy and the Schools’ privacy collection notice. Our Photographing, Filming and Recording Students policy EPS-Photographing-filming-recording-students-policy  describes how we collect and use photographs, video and recordings of students. The policy also explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn. Principal's Report Bookings are now open for the Parent-Teacher Connect Meetings on Thursday 12th February, running from 1.00pm to 6.00pm.   You can book times via Compass. Regular classes finish at 12pm on the day, but we are able to supervise students from then until 3.30pm if you are not able to collect your children earlier. Please advise your child's teacher or the Office Staff, or send an email to emerald.ps@education.vic.gov.au, if you need to have your child/children stay until 3.30pm. Principal's Report School preparedness and pre-emptive actions for the bushfire season Schools and early childhood services undertake a range of activities each year to prepare for bushfires and grassfires. The Department of Education conducts an annual fire risk assessment of schools and early childhood services. Those at the greatest levels of risk are published on the Bushfire At-Risk Register (BARR) and Category 4 list. Schools at the highest levels of risk (Categories 0, 1 and 2) take pre-emptive actions on elevated fire danger days in their Local Government Area according to their fire risk category to minimise the risk [...]

Principal's Report We know that Sunday night’s horrific events at Bondi Beach may have affected some people in our community deeply. Incidents like this can be distressing for adults and children alike, and it is natural to feel unsettled, sad, or anxious after such news. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and send our care and support to anyone in our school community who may be directly impacted. Principal's Report I am very happy to announce the teaching team for 2026 – it is a privilege to work with these excellent educators! As I announced a few weeks ago, we are farewelling Mrs. Gail Fraser at the end of this year, who has been an amazing part of the EPS community for so long. In addition, Sonia Sensei will be on leave in 2026, and we welcome Mrs. Claire Marshall to teach Japanese/Nihongo next year. Principal's Report What a fantastic week we’ve had at school! Principal's Report This evening we look forward to welcoming our 2026 Grade Prep families to the Meet the Teacher session, followed by a sausage sizzle. It’s always an exciting milestone for our newest students as they begin their transition into school life. A reminder that this Friday, 28th November, is a student-free day while staff undertake a Professional Practice Day. No students are required at school. Principal's Report Our Prep 2026 Transition Program continued last week with the final transition session before our Meet the Teacher Evening on Tuesday 26th November. We are so proud of how confidently our future Preps are settling in, and we look forward to welcoming them back for their final visit of the year on Tuesday 9th December.
