The Tutor Program at Emerald Primary School enhances student confidence, targeting Literacy and Numeracy skills within a small group setting. Tutors Teachers work closely with classroom teachers to create specific learning programs which are centred on individual student needs. The program provides explicit teaching to break down student learning into manageable parts and provides them with more time for understanding and retaining.
Sessions utilize
- Verbal, visual and hands-on practises to account for differences in individual learning styles.
- Multiple Sessions a Week – Students attend Tutor sessions multiple times in a week to build on their understanding and assist their transfer of knowledge and skills to their classroom learning.
- Teachers, students and parents collectively reflect on the learning process and celebrate achievement.
