Principals Report

In this last newsletter for 2022, I wanted to thank all students, staff and EPS families for their
positivity and resilience when working together in our school community. In some ways, 2022
has proven more challenging than the last couple of years, but as per usual we have got through
it together – with our students always being at the heart of what we do every day.
A special thanks to Amanda Byers who has prepared the EPS 2022 Yearbook once again, after
many hours of work. Thank you to Phil Byers for his support with this also.
To our 2022 Grade 6 students – we will miss you, but know you will enjoy what is to come and
succeed in the next part of your learning journey at secondary college. Please come back and
visit us!
I want to wish all members of the EPS community a happy, relaxing and safe holiday season. I
am really looking forward to what 2023 will bring!

All students are invited to wear any festive, holiday season clothes they would like
next Tuesday 20th December for our last day of school. No gold coin donation
necessary.

Emerald Primary School is looking forward to another great year of teaching and learning and
would like to advise you of the school’s Curriculum Contributions for 2023, as per the letters sent
home recently.
Schools provide students with free instruction to fulfil the standard Victorian curriculum and we
want to assure you that all contributions are voluntary. Nevertheless, the ongoing support of our
families ensures that our school can offer the best possible education and support for our students.
We want to thank you for all your support. This has made a huge difference to our school
and the programs we can offer.

Your support in 2022 allowed us to:
· Provide high quality programs and specific subject materials and equipment for: English,
Mathematics, Science, Art, Music, Inquiry, Japanese and PE.
· Maintain and develop the school grounds.
· Ensure the upkeep of our computer devices to enhance learning opportunities.
· Maintain sufficient class sets of books for students to develop their reading skills.
· Provide hands on maths equipment ie. measuring materials for teaching purposes.
· Facilitate English and Mathematics online digital subscriptions.
· Deliver a range of sporting equipment.
· Arrange for individual student supplies and class bulk supplies.
**This information is also available on Compass re: payment arrangements.

Within our school this support has allowed us to organise and coordinate rich, extensive programs
outside of the traditional teaching and learning programs. We are constantly adding new
material for teachers to use to support personalised and quality learning in literacy and numeracy.
Our Specialist programs of Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Cooking/Science, Japanese and Physical
Education are very engaging, and your financial contributions assist us with the purchasing of
varied art resources, musical equipment and more.

Last week there was a slight error in the information regarding the Emerald
Lake Carols by Candlelight performance on Friday the 16th of December.
It is still at the Rotunda, EPS is still performing from 6pm to 6.20pm.
We are still gathering and getting ready at 5.45pm at the Rotunda.
There are still lunchtime rehearsals for the volunteer students going on the night.
However, it is not a whole school event and the Year 2’s are not playing the ukulele on the
night. That information was about last week’s assembly. I really need to be more precise with
my emails to the office.
This Friday is Volunteers only.
It is a free dress event, not a school uniform event.
Regards,
Dan MacEoin.

The EACH Smile Squad team are heading back to our school to complete six-monthly fluoride varnish applications
for those students who have provided consent. Fluoride varnish applications help make sure students have the best
chance of preventing tooth decay, so we’re excited Smile Squad are coming back.
Consent for this fluoride varnish application was provided when students’ initial consent forms were returned. However,
if anyone has changed their mind and do not wish to receive a fluoride varnish application, they can contact
EACH directly to let them know. Please contact the Smile Squad team via:

The Smile Squad team look forward to visiting soon.
