Principal’s Report

The end of 2023 sees the end of the current School Strategic Plan (SSP 2029-2023) for improvement, which the Annual Implementation Plan is based on. This plan determines what changes and improvements we aim to make as a school to continue to put the best teaching practices into place to support our students to reach their learning growth potential. Part of the review involves us checking in with the students, teachers, families and the community on how they think we are travelling as a school, what are we doing well and what are some opportunities for improvement. Over coming weeks, I will be seeking input from all members of our EPS community so that we can work towards formulating the basis for our next 4-year SSP. Apart from looking at student achievement data, this will also include asking for feedback on some of our policies, particularly those involving child safety, and seeking ideas on the topics of learning in the classroom, assessment and reporting, student wellbeing and engagement.

We are looking forward to a special Father’s Day Breakfast coming up again soon on the 1st of September. A great chance for students to bring their dads, or family member or friend, to their school and show them around. There will be a whole School Assembly on this morning too. Please RSVP via the link below, and also indicate if you are happy to come and cook eggs and bacon with us!

Exciting times as we prepare for a fun day of running through a rainbow of colours and raising funds for our school to improve our playgrounds for the students! To get involved, please follow this link: https://www.schoolfunrun.com.au/

Thank you to Mrs. Peta Woodyard for all of the work she is doing to prepare for this special event on Wednesday 6th September!

EPS families have been asked to participate in the 2023 Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey (previously known as the Parent Opinion Survey). Each year the school conducts an opinion survey with the school community. While previously a random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents/caregivers/guardians have been selected to participate, this year, all families are invited to participate in the survey. Results will be used to inform and direct our future school planning and improvement. I ask you to please take the time to complete the survey as your opinions are important to us and will contribute to the future management and organisation of our school. The survey will be conducted online and should take 20 minutes to complete. The survey can be completed on any internet enabled device (iPad, Desktop or Laptop, Smartphone) and is compatible with most browsers and will be open from Monday 7th August to Friday 8th September.

Stay tuned for more details on:

A HUGE THANK-YOU to all students and families for the AMAZING book donations made for ‘The Great Book Swap’. It meant that we had a huge variety of books for students of all ages to explore and enjoy, each picking up a beautiful quality book for just a gold coin donation! Many students returned on Thursday to purchase even more books!

We are EXCITED to announce that we have raised $467.20 for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Our donation will help provide books, learning resources and books in First Languages to children and families living in remote Indigenous communities across Australia.

A special THANKS to Ms. Byron-Thomsen & 5BT for organising the layout of space for the book swap and helping grades to come and visit in their allocated time slots. We hope all EPS students and families enjoy reading their quality second hand books and feel proud to contribute to such a wonderful charity.

Upcoming Events!

Dear Families,

The Grade 5 students are super excited to let the school community know that this Thursday 31st August will be MARKET DAY!!

Students have been working feverishly to survey classes, produce and market a product that they will sell on the day. Some of the stalls include ice-creams, chocolate dipped fruit, smoothies, homemade plushies, hair braiding, slime, sundaes, RC Cars, hot chocolate and basketball. Students are welcome to bring up to $10 to spend on the day. All classes have been given a time that they will come to the Market to purchase their goods and/or services.

We are all looking forward to seeing you there.

Breaking up is hard to do!!!!!!!!

It’s time for the canteen to break up with single use straws, these will not be available in 2023

More than 8 million tonnes of plastic enters the world’s ocean every year and over 90% is single use plastic.

So let’s say bye bye to straws and hello to BYO. We highly recommend reusable options over all disposables. Students can purchase a reusable silicone straw in its own case with the school Emblem for $4 from the canteen (over the counter or via online) or uniform shop.
